The 4-14 Window

Many have heard of the 10-40 Window which is an area that covers much of the closed countries in Northern Africa and Asia, where it is difficult to preach the gospel and worship.  There is another window that many have not heard of called the 4-14 window.  This group is children between the ages of 4 and 14.

Why the emphasis on children?

A 1999 Barna Research survey concluded that people:

ages 5 - 13 have a 32% probability of accepting Christ as their Savior;

ages 14 - 18 have just a 4% likelihood of doing so; and adults have only a 6% probability.

CEF has pointed out that “Two out of every three adults who are Christian made their decision to accept Christ as Savior before the age of 18; and

85% of today’s missionaries were saved as children.”

We believe all children are a priority group. In many countries, children are recruited at young ages for various roles including terrorism & prostitution. In America it’s Humanism at an early age. We are missing our children, while their hearts are young and tender.

So, we help the local church, both here and abroad, put together an effective children’s ministry team for their children.

We will be sharing more on this topic in the future right here.

LINKS TO 4-14 MINISTRIES:

CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOWSHIP:

CEF is a Bible-centered, worldwide organization that is dedicated to seeing every child reached with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, discipled and established in a local church.

They have several ministries including:

The Good News Clubs - one hour one day per week - usually in a school setting

The Five Day Clubs - one hour per day for a week - usually in a neighborhood setting (homes, back yards)

The Truth Chasers Club - an exciting Bible correspondence course designed to disciple children adn adults (God has allowed over 387,000 people - 70% children - in more than 130 countries to be reached through this ministry)

PLUS outreaches through fairs, camping, open-air, and internet ministries for children.  In 2011, through all these ministries, over 10 million children world-wide heard the good news with over one million making professions of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

CEF is currently in 176 countries; and hope to be in all 208 countries by their 80th anniversary in 2017.

CEF provides training to its volunteers.  Paul has taken their introductory course and it is truly great.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD:

Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is a world-wide children's project of Samaritan's Purse that uses simple gift-filled shoe boxes to let hurting boys and girls know they are loved and not forgotten.

In 2011 8,638,168 boxes were collected internationally from 10 countries including 6,051,799 from the USA. Some 140,000 volunteers in the USA (500,000 worldwide) help move the boxes from the local collection centers to their destinations in up to 130 countries around the world.

What many do not know is the great evangelism that happens with each box.  When a child reeives a box, they also receive a Bible story book with the gospel message in their language.  Additionally, they are invited to a 6 week Bible study to disciple those who receive Christ as their Savior.

Since 1993, OCC has distributed over 94 million shoe box gifts for needy children in more than 130 countries.  That's 94 million children who have heard the Good News message.
